Hi ladies,

I was hoping for some help from you mummies...

I need ideas for gifts to buy a work colleague who's about to go on maternity leave...we have collected about £75 so far.

Is there anything that you can think of that she would find useful/helpful/relaxing for both her and her blue bump?

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thanks so much in advance. Maternity Leave Gifts for work colleague? (2)

I've just made a survival pack for my bestie... It includes "The Wonder Weeks" book, a swaddle blanket, a white noise CD, a snooze shade.
Lamaze toys are great too

My work got me vouchers for mothercare which went down a treat too!!

I got a "baby cake" made up of nappies, clothes, muslins cloths and toiletries, I loved it. They also gave me some vouchers for Mothercare. How about some nice mum to be bath and massage products for her to relax with before the baby's here? xx

How thoughtful of you and your coworkers!!!

Might sound silly - but my coworkers chipped in and got my hubby and me a gift certificate to a nice restaurant to use after the baby was born. I left baby with mom and hubby and I had an AMAZING date night!!! I thought it was so great that they thought of me as a person as well as a recovering mommy.

My work gave me a load of vests and babygrows, a towel and bath mitt, a blanket and some chocolates and flowers. The brilliant thing was that the clothes were all in 3-6 month size, and everything else we'd been bought was newborn or 0-3.

The survival kit is nice, but I'm also for the clothes which are too big! If you really want to save her money and be helpful as well as nice then this is brilliant. Something simple like a back of vests and a pack of sleepsuits for each age is £20 so could be really nice to have on stand-by

The vouchers for days out are ok ideas, but if your colleague breastfeeds, she may not feel she can leave the baby for ages after its born. I wouldn't have liked getting something I felt assumed I wouldn't want to be with my LO for an evening. When is she going on mat leave? Maybe a pregnancy massage would be better?

On second thoughts, a rainforest jumperoo might be a really good idea. They certainly aren't the cheapest of things, but so so so many people on here (including myself) rave about them! It does seem to be something which pops up on many people's baby essentials list Maternity Leave Gifts for work colleague? (10)

They're big though. We couldn't fit one in our flat, so we never had one. If you can ask her whether her house is big enough, that's a good idea.

I'd be wary of getting feeding stuff too. If she BFs, she won't need it. If she's planning to FF, she'll have already got it.

One did put me together a box of things for me and baby. Baby magazines, nappies, wipes, book for me and little books for baby, wash mitt, teddy, bath stuff. It was really nice and so much appreciated!
OH's team (of 4) got us a £15 gift card for Boots which came in handy when we needed more bottles Maternity Leave Gifts for work colleague? (16)

I think my boss half bullied the others at work into coughing up generously Maternity Leave Gifts for work colleague? (18) so I got an Amazon voucher for about £165 (they asked me what I wanted so it wasn't a surprise). This was ideal for me as I was getting the train to work so would have had trouble carrying anything much at 38 weeks pregnant. I used it to buy a decent breast pump (probably would have gone for a cheaper one if I'd been paying!) and some other little bits and then we put the rest towards a Jumperoo, all useful things!

A gift certificate for a prenatal massage or a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure!

One thing I loved getting done was a massage when I was 34 weeks pregnant that I got for a birthday gift. But I also loved going to get my mani/pedi done before my LO was born so that I knew they would be taken care of for a few weeks while LO was born/newborn so I didn't have to worry about it!

ETA: I don't think it's a good idea to get anything personal for the baby, like a bigger item (swing, bouncer, etc) because your co-worker will probaby want to choose those. It may be a good idea to get a gift voucher for a baby store rather than buy an item.
